Welcome
to the Village of Tolono

A plaque was erected nearby in 1932 to mark the spot and commemorate the occasion of Abraham Lincoln’s last speech to the people of Illinois. However, the marker was moved to its present spot some years ago to make it more accessible to the public.

The original location of the marker was about 600 feet to the east across the Illinois Central Railroad lines.

The Canadian National (CN) Railway acquired control of the Illinois Central in 1998 and merged its operations in 1999.
